Animation Overdrive Teen Camp

Schedule: (5 sessions/7 hours) Monday, June 22nd - Friday, June 26th, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Discover the fun world of animation! Experiment in stop-motion, claymation, and 2d animation, with a wide variety of techniques to choose from, you don’t need to draw! Animate objects, puppets, paper, clay, or even yourself! Students will experiment with animation software including sound production, editing, and storytelling techniques.
Explore the diverse world of animation and experiment with stop motion, claymation, 2D digital drawings and other forms of animation. Delve into sound production, editing, and narrative storytelling. Work with other campers to create an animated short to feature in the end of summer showcase. Drop off is available at 9:15 am. Bring lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.

2D Animation Class – Beginner

Cost $110
Discover the fun world of 2D animation! Learn the basic principles of hand-drawn animation, and apply them to bring your drawings to life. Students will learn how to capture animated movement through in-class exercises and tutorials on how to properly get started. Experiment with animation software. Create fun drawings to animate. Learn animation planning by crafting your own scene, and sketching appealing key poses.

Late Night Monologue Joke Writing

Schedule: (2 sessions/2 hours) Tuesday, June 30 - Wednesday, July 1, 6 pm - 8 pm

This fun, fast-paced workshop introduces students to writing topical monologue jokes in the style of late-night television. The class is conducted as if students are part of a real late-night show staff. Designed specifically for non-professional writers, this course is informative, supportive, and hands-on. The class blends instruction, viewing and analysis of professional examples, writing time, collaboration, performance, and studio production. Students will experience how comedy moves from idea → page → performance → camera, and will leave each course with written material and recorded video content suitable for personal portfolios. The instructor or a local comedian/actor performs the material as a news anchor on camera. All filming will take place at TC Media studios, offering students exposure to studio workflows in an accessible, low-pressure environment.

News Satirization Joke Writing "Weekend Update"-Style

This course focuses on writing comedy for satirical news segments in the style of “Weekend Update.” Students write jokes, headlines, and short desk commentary. The class blends instruction, viewing and analysis of professional examples, writing time, collaboration, performance, and studio production. Students will experience how comedy moves from idea → page → performance → camera, and will leave each course with written material and recorded video content suitable for personal portfolios. Let’s Make a Movie: 2 Week Intensive Teen Camp

Embark on a dynamic two-week adventure immersing yourself in the art of filmmaking. This comprehensive camp guides students through the entire filmmaking process. Students will work through the process of a short narrative movie from scripting, to shooting and editing the final product.
Week 1 Pre-production and Script Development: Dive into the foundations of filmmaking by exploring scriptwriting, casting, and the technical aspects of shooting. Gain hands-on experience with cameras, audio equipment, lighting, and special effects. Collaborate with your team to craft and develop the script, cast your film, and rehearse it, setting the stage for the creative journey ahead.
Week 2 Filming and Editing: Build upon the skills acquired in Week 1, delving into advanced techniques in production and post-production for filmmaking. Further explore the intricacies of cameras, audio equipment, lighting, and special effects. Collaborate in teams to shoot and edit the scripts developed in Week 1, bringing your cinematic vision to life. By the end of this two-week camp, you will possess a comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking process. You will have successfully navigated the pre-production, production, and post-production stages, resulting in the creation of an original short movie which will be featured in the end of summer showcase. Start a Garageband!

Start your music career off with a bang, crash, boom! This camp focuses on beginners music production using the software Garageband for the iPad. Students will learn the foundational skills of music structure, songwriting, and beat creation in pursuit of creating an original song. The camp will culminate in the creation of an original music video which will be featured in the end of summer showcase. Drop-off is available at 9:15 am. Lunchtime supervision is available for those signed up for both morning and afternoon media camps during the same week. Please bring snacks and a water bottle.
